Fresh Finds

This past Sunday we went to an estate sale in Kenosha. It was day three, and everything was half price. We knew that the house belonged to a serious collector/hoarder. We weren't quite sure what to expect. There was a pretty long line even with it being noon on the third day, so we had to wait for about an hour before we were able to go in. It was SO worth the wait. We spent two hours in the house and had to force ourselves to leave. In fact, Allie only made it through two of the rooms in the whole house!

The man who owned this house collected every vintage/antique known to man. There was so much stuff in the house, it was absolutely packed- we couldn't believe it... and again, day three of the sale!
We came back with 17 full bags, three pieces of furniture, piles of vintage dresses and clothes, and stacks of boxes, trays, canisters, and other things that just didn't fit in bags. Good thing we took the van! :)

A few snapshots of our piles and finds. I wish we could have taken more but we had to spent quite a bit of time cleaning and finding places for all our treasures.

Fresh Finds

Ahhhh! We had so much fun hunting for treasures Saturday morning. The whole family piled into the car and off we went. We visited our new favorite resale shop and many yard sales.

Here are a few pictures of our most recent finds. You can find some of these items posted on our sites already.

More Fresh Finds

While our girls were finding treasures on the home front, Mr. Wren and I were off for a few days  in northern Wisconsin.  Along with quiet relaxing fishing for him and reading for me, is one of our favorite "at the lake" pastimes-  the local flea market!
The old time fairgrounds are charming and we always manage to find something to drag back home with us.
Love the goodies from this trip all gathered here on the deck.

Fresh Finds

Hello!

Allie and I were off like a herd of turtles this morning to hit up some estate sales. For once we didn't bother to get numbers, instead we figured we'd scoop up anything cool that was leftover.

We also stopped at a new consignment shop- Belle City Resale Consignment Shop in Racine, WI. We had so much fun poking around there. It's huge and there's tons of merchandise that hasn't even been put out yet. We are very excited to return!

Here are some of our finds from today.

Happy Hunting!

Exploring Phoenix

I'm lucky enough to have a job that allows me to travel. Recently I spent time in Phoenix, AZ. It was only the second time I had been there. It was beautiful.

Here are a few pictures from my trip!

Someday We'll Have Veggies!

Last year Mike and I bought a house- it was so scary and exciting! Since we bought the house in February, we weren't sure what would grow in our yard and gardens. So, we let things grow, and boy what a mess. Some of the weeds were over six feet tall!

We took away heaping wheelbarrows and buckets full of weeds and boulders just from this one side bed! We also moved a lot of the plants and bushes to other places in our yard as we're planning on turning this into our vegetable garden.

A few weeks ago we started in on the side garden again (trying to beat the heat and the mosquitoes!). Again, we overturned and weeded. The soil was mostly clay and the whole bed was really uneven so we had a ton of dirt delivered. The tulips and daffodils that we planted last fall were just starting to come up so we had something pretty to look at while we worked.

I can't wait to continue mulching, moving, planting, and bordering this bed. I'm really looking forward to being able to walk outside, pick some vegetables, and make a great meal with them. I know it will take a lot of time and hard work, but it will be worth it!

Happy gardening!

One of my very favorite blogs and online shops is Dreamy Whites.  Maria is such a talented photographer and stylist!  Her home is a dream and her shop is just perfection. She is hosting a wonderfully generous giveaway- a $250.00 gift card for her shop.  Stop over, browse and enter- this is not to be missed.

School Days Mall Flea Market

Well, we're finally unpacked from our Beyond the Garden Gate! excursion, and just in time since we'll be packing everything back up for the School Days Mall Flea Market in Sturtevant, WI. The Flea Market takes place Saturday, June 4th from 7:30am to 4pm, and the mall opens at 9am. The address is 9500 Durand Ave (HWY 11) and the event will take place rain or shine... hopefully shine!

With each show that we do, we learn a bit more about vending. At our last show we made sure to perfect our tagging system since there are three of us selling things. We also brought a lot of our prettier items and things that related to spring and gardening. For the Flea Market, we'll be bringing a lot of merchandise that you won't see in our Etsy shops and that weren't at the Hawthorne Hill Farm Sale. We'll be bringing a lot of antiques, some of our more rustic things, and some of our bulkier items, such as furniture, that can be hard to ship. Should be lots of fun- hopefully we don't end up buying more than we sell! :)

Hope to see you there!
