Trip to New Orleans Part II

The food on this trip was amaaaazinnggg. It was some of the best I've ever had and between having a foodie boyfriend & living in NYC that's saying a lot, right? My meals were mainly vegetarian which can get boring but not in good ol' New Orleans! Here's a sampling of what I was lucky enough to dine on--

Baked Brie- Aged brie cheese baked and topped with an apple chutney served with roasted garlic, fresh fruit and crispy French bread- at Crescent City Brewhouse
I also recommend the Gourmet Chicken Sandwich- Fried chicken breast topped with provolone, fennel, Fuji apple and cranberry slaw on a seeded brioche bun with ancho chili aioli and sweet potato fries.

Farm Arugula with Pickled Cucumber, Local Citrus and Ponzu Vinaigrette at Mila

Unsure of the details on this dish but in the back of this picture is a tasty Mississippi Mule cocktail- Plymouth Gin, Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice, Cassis Liqour (also at Mila)

Sweet Potato Pappardelle with Shiitake Mushrooms, Kale, Baby Root Vegetables and Shaved Sheep Cheese (Mila)

Raspberry Cream Tart- Cornmeal crust, pastry cream, raspberries, pistachios (Mila)

Covey Rise acorn squash risotto- brussel sprouts in brown butter, mushroom parmesan crisps at August with Chef John Besh!  I also recommend Candied quince and pear consomme- truffled celery root, pear butter and walnut oil or anything from the tasting menu of farmer's market vegetables.

Complimentary treats and in the back of this picture is a classic Gravier Gin Fizz (also at August)

Pumpkin Pecan Pancakes- with Smith Creamery butter and cane syrup at Dante's Kitchen

Hash browns (also Dante's Kitchen)

Another restaurant I'd recommend is Dick and Jenny's. I didn't get any photos of the food but we had-
Savory Wild Mushroom & Blue Cheese Cheesecake- with Blue Cheese Aioli; Crispy Caprese Eggplant Fritters- Balsamic Vinegar marinated Tomatoes topped with Goat & Blue Cheese Crumbles & a Fresh Basil Pesto; House Made Vegetarian Gnocchi- with a Sauteed Spinach, Shallot & Garlic Cream Sauce, and an Apple Cart cocktail- Daron Calvados, Lemon, Cointreau & Baked Apple Bitters, served up with a Sugar Rim. If you are ever in NOLA check out any and/or all of the restaurants I've mentioned-- the food, drinks, service, atmosphere, etc. were all perfection!!!
