'Tis the season... I can't believe it is less than two months before the holidays are upon us. I plan on getting some shopping done this weekend and I can't think of a better place than Hawthorne Hill Farm.
Come visit us and many other vendors at Hawthorne Hill Farm for Decorate! Holiday Market. It is the perfect place to get your holiday shopping done as it has everything from vintage and antiques to gorgeous one of a kind handmade creations. You are bound to find something here for everyone on your shopping list.
All three levels of the 150 year old barn will be full of amazing holiday displays. This year, the entire top floor will be dedicated to Bonnie Lynn's fabulous creations and we expect that it will knock our socks off. Bonnie is the owner and brains behind all of the events at Hawthorne Hill Farm and creates the most beautiful artwork.
This year, we will be on the main floor of the barn and plan on bringing lots of furniture- from shabby chic chairs, and small benches to shelves and an old bowling table. Of course we will have lots of ornaments and sparkle as well! The picture to the right is just a small portion of our booth from last year's event.
Decorate! Holiday Market runs November 4, 5, and 6 from 10am-5pm. It is located at 16370 West Small Road in New Berlin, WI and admission is free. Follow updates about this event and other events taking place at Hawthorne Hill Farm by liking their Facebook page.
We'll be sure to post more about this event and include pictures from this year's show as we set up our booth and walk around the winter wonderland!!
Hope to see you there!

Around the House
Here are some of my favorite things from the shelves of my Etsy room. Lots more to come as I have endless shelves and collections in this room. Annie
I bought these pins from Jean. I just love them! (my little Chalkware bunny does too) |
I saw this at an estate sale and had to have it. Mike's face was priceless when I brought it home. I think it's rather fabulous. |
Two more pins from Jean, a collection of marbles, glass buttons, and light pink beads as well as two old glass stoppers. |

Autumn
This is my absolute favorite season. There are so many things to look forward to- the leaves changing colors, pumpkins, mums, cool air, jeans and sweaters, geese flying south in big V's, apple crisp baking in the oven... the list goes on and on.
This year I am really looking forward to Thanksgiving (yes, I know that Halloween isn't even here yet). But truly, I just love it when our family gets together and autumn means that Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Once it's a bit closer to Thanksgiving, I'll have to post some of our greatest family Pie Fest moments. For now, get outside and enjoy the new weather before we are buried in snow!

Create
Not much involved in this project. If you have a vintage, wood pants hanger and an old game board you are 99.9% there! I have this example hung on one of our closet door knobs.
This type of pants hanger is great for holding things like old botanical prints.
The best part about this is that it's so easy to switch up the art in these projects. In minutes, you can give your room a whole new look. Hang old photos, your children's art, cool fabric, vintage maps, poems, or even- well, pants. :-D
Have fun!

Antique Mall Outing
Old tokens and dice. |
The box with the latch is actually an old US Navy "parts" box. It is so very cool- this picture does not do it justice. |
After that we were off to Benson Corners Antique Mall in Kenosha. I had never been here and it was absolutely amazing. I liked that it was warm and inviting. Clean, sunny, and spacious. While I love a cluttered antique mall, it's nice to be able to see everything once in awhile. Here we hit the jackpot. Almost every booth had some sort of sale so we got tons of goodies. We are now on the waiting list to hopefully sell here in the future!
The Circus Animals by Leonard Weisgard has 6 fabulous prints inside it! |
I have a wonderful collection of these. |
On our way home we hit two more places- one that was going out of business (sad) and one that is called the Antique Castle Mall, which we sped through since we ordered a pizza and had to pick it up. :-D
I hope everyone's weekend was as fun and productive as ours. Can't wait to share more pictures from this weekend. There are so many that these are just a few of my finds!

Amber by Seedling Design
An item from my shop was lucky enough to be featured in this gorgeous treasury by Anna of Seedling Design. Her autumnal collection made it to the front page of Etsy today! Congratulations to all included. It's always so fun to be featured on the front page and even more fun when you actually get to see it!

Life is Beautiful
This summer I was trimming some little bush/tree things that are in front of our house- they were absolutely out of control. I reached in to cut a branch when a robin flew out of the tree. To be honest, I don't know who was more scared; me or the robin! After I resumed breathing, I saw that there was a nest in our bushes. I was THRILLED!
Mike and I watched the robin each day- from the time there was one egg, to three eggs, until they left the nest. It was wonderful.
So remember, life is beautiful. Take the time to look around you and appreciate what you have!

Okay, I love nature and even I will admit that at this point they look pretty gross. |
Ahhh! They have some feathers! |
They looked like grumpy old men for awhile- hilarious! |
The first day they left the nest. I was so proud! |

Foxy!
On my way to work this morning I thought I saw a dog walking on the side of the road. I slowed down just in case it was lost and realized that it was either a tiny coyote or fox. It was red and fluffy with black on his legs and tail. He was so cute!!!! He ran with my car for quite some time (don't worry, he was on the other side of the street and I was going super slow).
Unfortunately I didn't have my camera on me, so here are some foxy finds from fellow Etsians!

Door County in Autumn
It just doesn't get any better than going to Door County in October. Autumn there is just spectacular. The trees are every color- from green to yellow, orange to red, they are phenomenal to look at. Mike and I went there last weekend with our good friends John and Dana. We had the most wonderful time and couldn't have asked for better weather or colors.
I hit up my favorite antique malls and found a few goodies for myself, as well as allthingswhite and elizabethwrenvintage! The pennants and bow tie were perfect for Allie, and those little white shoes will be so cute in my mom's shop. I love old cheese boxes and may keep that vase for myself. I think I'm going to fill the tin with my Christmas tags and bring them to a sale my mom and I are doing in November (more info to come on that soon!).
One of my favorite places to visit is Toft's Point. While I love Peninsula State Park and always go there to hike and climb the tower, Toft's Point is so quiet. You rarely run into another person and there are some old houses there that I seriously want to live in... well, if we could add heat and plumbing. I have a feeling it would be fairly cold there in the winter!
Here are some pictures from Toft's Point- it's not like hiking in Peninsula State Park. It's a pretty straight shot, not difficult at all. There are a few eagles' nests if you remember to look up. We also saw a snake and a tree frog! There were tons of trees down as there was a huge storm with really strong winds not too long before we got there. The parks were shut down for a week just so that they could get the trees cleaned up for cars and people to be able to get through. It made me sad to see so many trees down, but Mike reminded me that it allows sunlight to get to the ground so that new trees can grow. Always the optimist!
Pulled over on my way home from the antique mall to take this picture- I love the cows! |
